Description
The James Webb Space Telescope was launched on December 25, 2021, and major deployments of the observatory have been successfully completed. Following a 6-month commissioning phase, the long-awaited flagship observatory will offer the worldwide astronomical and planetary science communities powerful new infrared capabilities for years to come.
The Town Hall will feature speakers from the JWST Program Office at NASA Headquarters, the JWST project at the Goddard Space Flight Center, and the Science and Operations Center at the Space Telescope Science Institute. The presentations will:
- Provide the astronomical community with a status update of the mission
- Discuss the next steps in the commissioning timeline
- Inform the community on when to expect to see the first science data
- Look forward to the first year of exciting JWST science
