Title: From Sunburns To Planet Formation: Why Is Ultraviolet Starlight So Important?
Anyone who has ever been sunburned is painfully aware of how ultraviolet sunshine impacts humans on Earth. These photons, which we can't actually see with our eyes, also have an effect on astronauts in space and other objects in our solar system. The ultraviolet light from other stars can change the atmospheres of the planets that orbit them too. Young stars in particular produce lots of UV photons that control the chemistry of material that will eventually form new worlds. Join us to learn how astronomers study these processes with the Hubble Space Telescope!
