Example of Satellite Trail in Hubble Space Telescope Exposure

A large pair of colliding galaxies, sporting long tails of blue stars and gas emanating from each galaxy, is shown at the center of a primarily dark background. The trail of an artificial satellite is seen as the bright white band running across the top of the galaxies diagonally from the middle-left of the image towards the upper-right corner of the image.

About The Image

Color Info
These images are a composite of separate exposures acquired by the ACS/WFC instrument on the Hubble Space Telescope. Several filters were used to sample wide and narrow wavelength ranges. The color results from assigning different hues (colors) to each monochromatic (grayscale) image associated with an individual filter. In this case, the assigned colors are: Blue: F475W, Green: F606W, Red: F814W
