About This Article
We are pleased to announce the release of the Cycle 4 Call for Proposals for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) General Observer time and funding for Archival Research and Theoretical Research programs. There will be up to 8,500 hours available in this cycle (a significant increase from the 5,000-5,500 hours available in Cycles 2 and 3).
The Call for Proposals contains several changes that are new this year including revisions to the Page Limits, Size Categories, and Science Categories. These changes will directly impact how JWST proposers write and submit their proposals and we encourage prospective investigators to review the Guide to Changes in detail. Of particular note is that in most cases the page limits are reduced by approximately a factor of two.
Proposals are due by 8 p.m. US Eastern Daylight Time on October 16, 2024. The Cycle 4 Telescope Allocation Committee will meet in February 2025, with selections announced in early March 2025.
For more details, please consult the full Call for Proposals. Proposers are strongly encouraged to contact the JWST Help Desk with any questions.
