With JWST Cycle 5 proposals due October 15th, it is not too early to start working on your submission. STScI provides many online resources to assist with your JWST proposal preparation:
- The Cycle 5 Call for Proposals page contains the most complete and up-to-date information about proposing for time in this next cycle.
- For a general guide to start planning JWST observations, review Getting Started with Planning JWST Observations.
- JWST User Documentation (JDox) includes the latest instrument and pipeline updates.
- Our JWST Observer YouTube channel contains short video tutorials to help you get started with the Exposure Time Calculator (ETC), Astronomer’s Proposal Tool (APT), and data analysis.
- The new MAST JWST Duplicate Observation Search helps investigators determine if observations they plan to propose are likely to duplicate existing or planned observations.
- The JWST Interactive Sensitivity Tool (JIST) is intended for quick feasibility checks, by providing quick access to the point source sensitivities of the observatory.
- Other JWST software tools are available to assist users as they investigate various proposal options for viability.
