WebbPSF Is Now Space Telescope PSF (STPSF)

January 28, 2025

About This Article

WebbPSF, a Python package that computes simulated point spread functions (PSFs) for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, has migrated to Space Telescope PSF (STPSF), in order to reflect its broader support for both missions. STPSF functionality is currently the same as WebbPSF, only the name is different. The migration has been completed to maintain back-compatibility for existing code, and existing installations will continue to run as-is.

You can find more information about STPSF and how to transition from WebbPSF in the STPSF documentation. If you have any questions or encounter any issues with the installation or usage of STPSF, we encourage users to reach out to the JWST Help Desk, category STPSF/JWST Telescope. You can also open an issue under our github repository.
