STScI Announces the Timeline for the JWST Cycle 6 Call for Proposals

STScI has finalized the timeline for the solicitation and review of proposals for JWST Cycle 6:

  • Call for Proposals released: Monday, July 20, 2026
  • Proposal deadline: Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 8 p.m. (EDT)
  • Proposals released to reviewers: early November 2026
  • Telescope Allocation Committee (TAC) meetings: February 1-11, 2027
  • Notifications: Mid to late March, 2027
  • Cycle 6 starts: July 1, 2027

We encourage proposers to mark the deadline in their calendars now. The 8 p.m. deadline will be strictly observed. More detailed information regarding submissions will be provided in the Call for Proposals.
