7/30/96 This directory contains the HDF source catalog from Williams et al. 1996 (AJ in press) in 3 different formats. catalog.ps Postscript file of the catalog in Table 7 of the paper. chip*.txt ASCII files listing the same quantities. hdfv2catalog_*.fits FITS tables of the complete set of parameters for each galaxy. These files can be read using the STSDAS using the STRFITS package and manipulated using the STSDAS TTOOLS utilities. The entry for each galaxy contains parameters measured from the summed F606W+F814W image, and the same parameters measured in the four separate bandpasses (F300W, F450W, F606W, and F814W). Note that source detection was done on the summed F606W+F814W image, and the galaxy centers and apertures were fixed for the measurements in the other bands. See Williams et al. for more details. A point to note in comparing the raw catalog to the published version is that when lower limits on the F606W isophotal and total magnitudes are presented there, they are both computed from the S/N within the isophotal aperture. The catalog parameters are listed below, along with the STSDAS table specifications of datatype, print format, units, and description. ra d h15.3 "hours" "Right Ascension" dec d h15.2 "degrees" "Declination" chipno i i1 "" "CCD number" entnum i i5 "" "detection number" subent ch*15 "" "" "split number" eflgs ch*8 "" "" "object flags" sbr r f10.3 mag "sky brightness" nsbr r f10.3 pixels "number of sky pixels" ssbr r f10.3 counts "sky sigma" area r f10.3 pixels "isophotal area" tarea r f10.3 pixels "total area" ispht r f10.3 counts "isophote brightness" xavg r f10.3 pixels "average x width" yavg r f10.3 pixels "average y width" xc r f10.3 pixels "x position" yc r f10.3 pixels "y position" Li r f10.3 counts "isophotal luminosity" sLi r f10.3 counts "sigma of isophotal luminosity" Lc r f10.3 counts "core luminosity" Lfca r f10.3 counts "aperture luminosity" Ltotal r f10.3 counts "total luminosity" icx r f10.3 pixels "x intensity weighted centroid" icy r f10.3 pixels "y intensity weighted centroid" ixx r f10.3 pixels "xx intensity weighted second moment" iyy r f10.3 pixels "yy intensity weighted second moment" ixy r f10.3 pixels "xy intensity weighted second moment" ir1 r f10.3 pixels "intensity weighted first moment radius" ir3 r f10.3 pixels "intensity weighted third moment radius" ir4 r f10.3 pixels "intensity weighted fourth moment radius" cx r f10.3 pixels "x unweighted centroid" cy r f10.3 pixels "y unweighted centroid" xx r f10.3 pixels "xx unweighted second moment" yy r f10.3 pixels "yy unweighted second moment" xy r f10.3 pixels "xy unweighted second moment" r1 r f10.3 pixels "unweighted first moment radius" ir2 r f10.3 pixels "intensity weighted second moment radius" r2 r f10.3 pixels " unweighted second moment radius" mc r f10.3 mag "core magnitude" ma r f10.3 mag "aperture magnitude" mi r f10.3 mag "isophotal magnitude" mt r f10.3 mag "total magnitude" s2ni r f10.3 "" "S/N for isophotal mag" s2na r f10.3 "" "S/N for aperture mag" s2nt r f10.3 "" "S/N for total mag" pa r f10.3 degrees "Raw Position Angle (vertical = 0, increases clockwise)" celpa r f10.3 Degrees "Celestial Position Angle (increase E from N)" eps r f10.3 "" "axial ratio (isophotal b/a)" The parameters for the individual bandpasses are identical to the above, with the exception that chipno, ra, and dec are not repeated.
