Denise Smith

Denise Smith is Deputy Head of the STScI Office of Public Outreach, where she provides leadership and direction for science education and communications programs. She received her Ph.D. in astronomy from Cornell University, and held postdoctoral research appointments at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and STScI prior to assuming a position in education and public outreach.  Her scientific research has focused on rapid episodes of star formation in nearby galaxies, as observed across the electromagnetic spectrum.
