Example Profile

Dr. Munazza Alam is an Assistant Astronomer at the Space Telescope Science Institute. Her research focuses on atmospheric characterization of transiting exoplanets. She uses observations from HST, JWST, and large ground-based telescopes to measure the compositions of Jupiters to super-Earths to understand their origins and evolution. Dr. Alam is also an HST Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instrument team member.
Dr. Alam earned her PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Harvard University in 2021. She was then awarded the EPL Fellowship at the Carnegie Earth and Planets Laboratory in Washington, DC, before joining the STScI senior science staff as an Assistant Astronomer in 2023.
