Simulations of galaxies forming at these redshifts must include multiple mergers and accretion of gas from infalling structure. Detailed galaxy simulations will be developed, with initial conditions informed by large-scale cosmological simulations. Such simulations are the most effective way of generating large numbers of such merging systems. When these new hydrodynamic simulations are combined with our radiation transfer code Sunrise, it will be possible to generate realistic images and spectra of the simulated galaxies, not only at HST wavelengths but from far-UV to submillimeter. The simulated HST images and the other data will be used to develop better algorithms for identification of galaxies undergoing mergers.
