      <Title>Resolving multi-phase outflows in a $z=0.615$ massive galaxy with Chandra and HST</Title>
      
      <Abstract>AGN outflows are among the most vital signatures of strong AGN feedback, but exactly how they can quench galaxy star formation remains an open question. We propose a joint Chandra-HST observation targeting SRGA J175701+590751 for an exploratory spectral and imaging analysis. The target is an ultra-massive galaxy with hyperluminous IR luminosity at z=0.615. Our proposed observations will study its X-ray and UV outflows suggested by archival Swift/XRT and Subaru HDS observations to study AGN feedback processes in a prime candidate for ongoing SF quenching.</Abstract>

            <ObservingDescription>We will observe the a hard X-ray selected quasar with broad-absorption lines and hyper-luminous infrared luminosity with quasar with hyper-luminous infrared luminosity and hard X-ray detection with the STIS UV spectroscopy using the G230LB filter for two orbits to study the UV spectrum of our target. We will also observe the target with ACS imaging with F814W and F502N for one orbit.</ObservingDescription>

      <TeamExpertise>PI Chien-Ting Chen (NASA MSFC/USRA) is an expert on AGN and galaxy evolution.  He also has substantial experience in X-ray data analysis and interpretation with Chandra data.

Co-I W.N. Brandt has more than 25 years of experience studying AGNs and cosmic surveys. Relevant to this proposal, he has significantly studied the X-ray properties and spectroscopic variability of BAL quasars, including FeLoBAL quasars (e.g., Gallagher et al. 2002, 2006; Gibson et al. 2009, 2010; Filiz Ak et al. 2012, 2013; Timlin et al. 2021).

Co-I Steven Ehlert is a civil servant astrophysicist at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).  He is an expert on massive galaxies, AGN feedback, and diffuse X-ray emission. He will support the data analysis and interpretation.

Co-I Kevin Hainline is a member of spectroscopic analysis of AGNs and galaxies. He will support the multiwavelength data analysis and interpretation.

Co-I Ryan Hickox (Dartmouth College) is an expert on infrared and X-ray observations of AGN, with a number of publications on AGN outflows and AGN in highly obscured systems.

Co-I W. Peter Maksym is an expert on multiwavelength studies for AGNs outflows and feedback. He will support the data analysis and interpretation.

Co-I D. Stern is an expert on observational studies of AGN and galaxy evolution. He will support the data analysis and interpretation.

Co-I Swartz will support the analysis and interpretation of the Chandra data and contribute to the preparation of results for publication.

Co-I J. Runnoe has a scientific background in the physics and observations of active galactic nuclei and is the principal authors of many papers on quasar central engines. She has specific expertise in optical/UV spectroscopy of quasars (e.g. Runnoe et al. 2013a, 2014; Runnoe &amp; Boroson 2021) and broad absorption-line quasars (Runnoe et al. 2013b).

Co-I M. Sun (UAH) is an expert on Hubble, Chandra, and multiwavelength studies for galaxy clusters and AGN feedback. He will support the data analysis and interpretation.</TeamExpertise>
