0 This is an initial submission for HST observations of Rocky World DDT M dwarf target GJ 3929. We note that there is a slight problem with the Target Confirmtaion, that the APT team have explained is due to an incorrect header for the plate image used in the Target Confirmation plot. It should not affect our target coordinates or proper motions. Update #1: Resubmitting with visits 7/8 having updated ETC calculations to reflect the proper ACQ/PEAK slit width and repeating the SED the CS used. We also switched to Available mode with permission from the STIS CS in order to select WAVECALS in the above visits with 40s exposure time as per STIS team recommendations. This necessitated the addition of the LIFETIMEPOS keywords for all COS visits. The default LPs were selected. Update #2: Revised SNR calculations of Lyman alpha necessitated a wider slit for G140M in Visits 7/8, this increased some exposure times. Went back to default WAVECAL exposure times due to updated STIS team recommendations. Rocky Worlds DDT: HST Observations of GJ 3929 Rocky Worlds is a joint JWST and HST Director's Discretionary Program designed to implement the top recommendations from the Working Group on Strategic Exoplanet Initiatives with HST and JWST. The HST side of the Rocky Worlds DDT focuses on ultraviolet (UV) characterization of the nearby M-dwarf hosts of the rocky planets observed with JWST. We will use COS and STIS to measure the UV to blue-optical spectra of these stars, including UV flare monitoring and measuring the wings of the Ly-alpha profile where appropriate. With these observations we will constrain the high-energy output of these host M dwarfs in the UV, which can be applied to planetary models of atmospheric escape, as well as photochemistry if a planetary atmosphere is present. Complementary observations and analysis to fill in the rest of the M-dwarf panchromatic spectra, from the X-ray to the infrared, are encouraged. Each M-dwarf planet host observed by HST in the Rocky Worlds DDT program has its own Program ID. The observations in this program will focus on GJ 3929 HST observations of GJ 3929. 12 orbits of flare monitoring using G130M/1222. 4 orbits of FUV line coverage with G160M/1533 which provides complete coverage with G130M/1222 of 1070-1710 Angstroms. We obtain NUV/Vis low resolution spectroscopy with STIS G230L, G430L, and G750L and the 52x0.2 slit in order to construct an accurate stellar SED. 6 orbits of G140M 52x0.05D1 observations for Lyman alpha line reconstruction. We decided to favor the narrower slit due to being close to Solar Maximum and the 52x0.05 slit rejects more geocoronal Lyman alpha at the expense of a slight decrease in expected SNR. We select timing constraints on the G140M visits to align the geocoronal lyman alpha line with the expected ISM absorption velocity relative to the radial velocity of GJ 3929 (rv_GJ3929~10 km/s). We also select the D1 position to minimize FUV detector glow. This is due to the fact that we have multiple contiguous orbits with the FUV-MAMA and the glow increases with detector on time. The expected Lyman alpha line should be faint as well and the SNR would be impacted by higher detector background. All UV observations are obtained in time-tag mode to allow for light curves to be generated in the case of a flare or serendipitous transit. For all observations we used a distance scaled version of GJ436's MUSCLES SED, or from previous G140M observations of the Lyman alpha wings. GJ436 is another M3.5V star that has been observed extensively with HST. These observations mimic characterization of other M dwarfs from previous programs.
