The major science goal is to determine whether the dust causing the reddening of SNIa is of circumstellar origin or interstellar origin. We plan to observe about 25 SNIa. These observations are relevant for the studies of SNIa progenitor systems and for extinction corrections for supernova cosmology. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Observations Description ------------------------ We plan to obtain deep ACS/HRC snapshot survey images of highly extinct Type Ia supernovae to search for light echoes produced by interstellar dust in the SN host galaxies. Most of the light echoes should be spatially resolvable if they are detectable. We will use only the F435W filter for these surveys. A single visit will be 32 minutes long. We request two dither positions with one CR- SPLIT pair on each dither position. These observations will results in images deeper than 25th magnitude. The data will also be used to deduce limits on the extremely late time light curves of Type Ia supernovae. We have altogether 25 targets and requested 25 SNAPshot survey visits.
