Abstract We propose to determine the abundance of faint quasars and AGNs in the Hubble Deep Field using a multicolor technique and compare the results to expectations from previous surveys and model predictions. We will also attempt to identify AGN's embedded within host galaxies through multicolor analysis of point sources and possible extended envelopes. We will do numerical simulations to determine the best detection parameters for quasars/AGN, produce new catalogs that will be made available to the community, and estimate the completeness of the catalogs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Data Distribution Media: ELECTRONIC Blocking Factor: 10 Ship To: PI_Address Ship Via: Email: , ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7535( 1) - 12/14/96 00:42 - [ 1] Summary Form for Proposal 7535 Item Used in this proposal ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Proposal Category AR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Scientific Category AGN/QUASARS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
