Abstract These observations are proposed as part of the Hubble Heritage program. Jupiter's Great Red Spot (GRS) has been observed by HST as part of other monitoring programs, for example the Comet P/Shoemaker-Levy 9 Campaign. This set of observations is intended to study the GRS intensively in multiple filters, to provide structure and possibly wind inofrmation, as well as to extend temporal coverage of this giant storm. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8405( 3) - 04/29/99 16:12 - [ 2] Observations Description ------------------------ We require one orbit of WFPC2 PC observations in multiple filters, including a 3-color sequence for true color image generation. This sequence will be repeated at the end of the orbit to provide the possibility of a rotational movie. Other filters will fill in the middle of the orbit, and provide structual information about the GRS. Real Time Justification ----------------------- Calibration Justification ------------------------- Additional Comments ------------------- This sequence can be scheduled any time post-solar conjunction. It is possible that the White Ovals or a transiting Galilean satellite may also be visible in these observations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Data Distribution Paper Products: NO Media: ELECTRONIC Blocking Factor: 10 Ship To: STScI Ship Via: Email: frattare@stsci.edu ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8405( 3) - 04/29/99 16:12 - [ 3] TARGET LIST b)Solar System Targets ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TARGET NUMBER: 1 | TARGET NAME: JUPITER-TARGET-1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TARGET DESCRIPTION: PLANET ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TARGET POSITION LEVEL 1 | TARGET POSITION LEVEL 2 | STD=JUPITER | TYPE=PGRAPHIC,LONG=250.5,LAT=- | 10,R_LONG=+0.266,EPOCH=01-Jun-1999 | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TARGET POSITION LEVEL 3 | WINDOWS | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DATA | COMMENTS | SURF(9530)=1.0+/-0.3e-12 | The specific longitude is for the SURF(8890)=1.6+/-0.3e-12 | GRS on June 1.
