Abstract We propose Chandra and Hubble Space Telescope observations of the four X-ray brightest, cooling-flow clusters with bright gravitational arcs, newly identified from the ROSAT XBACS/BCS lensing study. Our primary aim is to measure the cluster mass profiles, using both the X-ray and lensing data. Secondary goals include measurements of the X-ray gas/total mass ratio as a function of radius, and the properties and ages of the cooling flows. Our targets are the X-ray brightest, dynamically-relaxed lensing clusters not yet studied with Chandra or HST and are amongst the most massive and X-ray luminous clusters known. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Observations Description ------------------------ We will observe the central region of Abell 2667 in 3 colours using WFPC2 with the dominant cluster galaxy positioned in the WF3 aperture. We will observe for 5 orbits using the F450W filter, 2 orbits in F606W, and 2 orbits in F814W, using a single pointing position (dithering using the WFPC2-BOX pattern). The data will primarily be used to identify gravitationally lensed features and create a detailed mass map for the cluster core.
