Abstract We propose coordinated observations, using the Chandra Observatory and HST, of three of the X-ray brightest, cooling-flow clusters with bright gravitational arcs newly identified from the ROSAT XBACS/BCS lensing study. Our primary aim is to measure the cluster mass profiles using both the X-ray and lensing data. Secondary goals include measurements of the X-ray gas/total mass ratio as a function of radius, and the properties and ages of the cooling flows. Our targets are the X-ray brightest, dynamically-relaxed lensing clusters not yet studied with Chandra or HST and are amongst the most massive and X-ray luminous clusters known. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Observations Description ------------------------ We will observe the central regions of the clusters using the ACS/WFC with the dominant cluster galaxy centred in the WFC1 aperture. We will use the F606W filter and dither using the ACS-WFC-DITHER-BOX pattern).
