Celebrating 20 Years of Discoveries
The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) is a camera aboard the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). NASA astronauts, rocketing up to HST on the Space Shuttle, installed ACS as a replacement camera in 2002 as part of the HST Servicing Mission 3B. For over 20 years, astronomers have been taking awe-inspiring pictures of the Universe with ACS, helping us to better understand planets, stars, and galaxies. The 20th Anniversary banner shows a tiny sample from more than 100,000 pictures taken by ACS as of 2022. More information about the images can be found at the links below.
