News from the Hubble Space Telescope

Authors: Nino Panagia1,2
I present a selection of the most exciting and spectacular results obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope in the last few years, such as (1) the Hubble Deep Field, i.e. galaxies in the far Universe, and studies of colliding galaxies in the near Universe, (2) the complete view of SN 1987A environment and the first measurements of the collision of SN 1987A ejecta with its inner circumstellar ring, (3) the observations of planetary nebulae that have revealed new aspects of stellar evolution and wonders of hydrodynamics, and (4) the studies of transient gamma-ray sources, whose characteristics may imply the existence of enormously energetic stellar explosions.
