Dr. Joshua Lothringer joined STScI in 2024 as part of the Hubble Space Telescope's Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) team. He was previously an assistant professor of physics at Utah Valley University from 2021 to 2023. He received his BA in Astronomy from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2014 and PhD in Planetary Science at the University of Arizona’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory in 2019.
His research focuses on interpreting observations of planetary, exoplanetary, brown dwarf, and stellar atmospheres with theoretical modeling. He is the principal investigator of multiple Hubble Space Telescope and James Webb Space Telescope programs to study the atmospheres of planets, brown dwarfs, and stars.
