Kornpob Bhirombhakdi

Dr. Kornpob Bhirombhakdi (KB) has very broad background in both academia and industry. He had been trained as a medical doctor before he shifted his interests to economics. By accepting a scholarship, he obtained his first PhD in Economics. His expertise was game theory, auction design, experimental economics, and behavioural economics. After several years of working as a lecturer, economist, and consultant, he pursued his childhood passion in astrophysics by attending a graduate program at Ohio University in 2014. In 2019, he graduated with a doctoral degree in astrophysics, and started the postdoctoral position at STScI. KB's interest is in cosmic explosions. He is an advocate for diversity and inclusion and has broad interests in these subjects. He is also a gamer as well as a hobbyist game developer. He is an athlete with a background in competitive sports. Currently, he is focusing on Kendo (a Japanese sword-fighting sport), and his current rank is 2-dan (equivalent to a black belt 2nd rank). He also likes to sing, play instruments, and dance.
