Example Profile
Dr. Logan Jones is a postdoctoral fellow with the Metals IN GaLaxiEs (MINGLE) group. working primarily with Dr. Svea Hernandez to understand the buildup of heavy elements in nearby galaxies. He joined STScI in September 2021 after earning his PhD in astronomy from the University of Wisconsin (2021) and his BSc in physics from the University of Arkansas (2016). Logan is a multi-wavelegth observational astronomer with a love for spectroscopy, which allows him to study in detail the interwined life cycles of stars and interstellar gas at ultraviolet, optical, near-infrared, and far-infrared/radio-wavelengths. In addition to his work with MINGLE on nearby galaxies, he is interested in mapping out the abundance of dusty starbursting galaxies and how it varies with galaxy environment.
