Example Profile

Dr. Sapna Mishra is a postdoctoral fellow with the MilkyWay Halo group, working primarily with Dr. Andrew Fox. Her research focuses on the circumgalactic medium of the Large Magellanic Cloud, utilizing low and high UV metal lines observed with the HST/COS. She joined the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in September 2023. Dr. Mishra's broad research interests include probing diffuse gas in and around galaxies and galaxy clusters. Before joining STScI, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in India, where she studied diffuse cool and warm gas around the outskirts of galaxy clusters. Dr. Mishra received her Ph.D. in 2021 from the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), India. Her doctoral research focused on the environments of AGNs, investigating radiative and kinematic feedback using photometric and spectroscopic data in optical and UV wavelengths.
