Stephan Birkmann
ESA-JWST Astronomer
Stephan Birkmann is a JWST/NIRSpec Instrument and Calibration Scientist working for the European Space Agency (ESA). He obtained his PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg in 2007 and joined ESA in 2008.
Science Interests:
- Early phases of massive star formation
- Enabling the characterization of transiting exoplanets with JWST/NIRSpec
- IR detector characterization
