The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) will be installed on HST later
this year. In anticipation of that, STScI is in the early stages of
defining the goals and and observing strategy for a major
high-Galactic-latitude survey. As was the case for the Hubble Deep
Field, such a survey would serve a wide variety of needs for both
Galactic and extragalactic research. Early community involvement in
this survey is important to help ensure that the HST observations are
aimed at important science goals, can meet diverse needs, and are
coordinated with observations from different facilities.
This small, focused workshop will consider the various science
issues that can or should be addressed with ACS high latitude surveys,
and the possible observing strategies that would be required to
address them.
Viewgraphs from the presentations will be linked in to the
workshop program as they arrive
from the speakers.
