We are investigating the potential of post-asymptotic giant branch (PAGB) stars as extragalactic distance indicators and probes of the stellar content and dynamics of galactic halos. We have devised a hybrid photometric system to identify these stars efficiently by combining a Gunn u filter with standard BVI. Because these stars have extremely low Balmer Jumps, they are easily recovered using such a system. Using candidate PAGB stars in M31 and NGC 205, we have recovered the accepted distance modulus to M31 in just an hour of KPNO 4m time, and we have found evidence to support the claim of Saha et al. 1992 that NGC 205 is 15-20Bond).
