Coronographic images were made of a 1.7 x 1.7 arcsecond area around Proxima Centauri in July and October 1996 using the FOS Large Barred Aperture. A faint feature was identified whch changed position between the two visits, relative to the FOS aperture and relative to the sky. Various instrumental sources have been ruled out, as has the possibility of a background object. The feature can be modeled as a companion 7 magnitudes fainter than Proxima (V=11.2) and about 0.5 AU from the star (H.M. Hart, A.B. Schultz, F.C. Hamilton, M. Kochte (CSC), C.D. Keyes (AURA))
