The Digitized Sky Survey II, based on modern surveys with the UK and Palomar Schmidt telescopes is now approaching completion. All-sky coverage in the R-band is currently available at the 75and major effort is turning to the J and N bands. Additionally, the Second Guide Star Catalog (GSC-II), based primarily on these surveys is now in progress. Plans and status for both projects, as well as the astrophysical programs being conducted in parall with them, will be briefly summarize
