Iacangelo, 80, a former biology and chemistry teacher at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, died of cancer Nov. 17 at Holy Cross Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He had lived in Silver Spring. He taught at Bethesda-Chevy Chase from 1950 to 1979 and served for a time as department chairman. He continued to substitute teach there until 1993. Mr. Iacangelo was born in Washington and graduated from Eastern High School, where he was a first violinist in the school orchestra. He received a bachelor's degree from Wilson Teachers College and a master's degree in education from George Washington University. He was in World War II and served in the Army Air Forces as a chief mechanic stationed mostly in Biloxi, Miss. Mr. Iacangelo enjoyed riding his moped. He rode it throughout Silver Spring before the area became so busy with traffic and often took it to Ocean City, where he would attract attention from youngsters, who would call out, "Hey, Pop." Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou Iacangelo of Silver Spring; a son, Richard Iacangelo of Columbia; and a brother, Albert Iacangelo of Washington.
