I was born in South Bend, Indiana on March 11, 1948 to Jeanne (Wick) and Walter John Younger. At the time my father was attending the University of Notre Dame on the GI Bill. My mother had been attending St. Mary's College, across the road from Notre Dame.
We moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota when I was one. There Tom, Mike (deceased 1975), Mary and Theresa (deceased 1996) were born. We then moved west to Havre, Montana when I was six. There Bill, Chris and Greg were born. We lived in Havre for eight years; we then moved to Helena where, in spite of my mother's exhaustion, the youngest, John, was born. My mother still resides in Helena. My father passed away in 1983.
Grade School (1954 - 1962): St. Jude's in Havre. Graduated 1962.

Currently, I am employed by the Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and work at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, primarily as a technical writer, editor of the Hubble Space Telescope Handbooks. I also coordinate any needed Hubble site work between my work group (Information Services) and the Hubble Space Telescope Missions Office.
I have worked for CSC for 25 years (since July 16, 1984). Initially I was employed as an Operations Astronomer, first in Science Planning and Operations and later in Commanding. In 1994 I transferred to Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) as a Resident Astronomer at the International Ultraviolet Telescope Operations Center. In 1995 I moved to Boulder, Colorado to work with the Space Telescope Imaging and Spectrographs (STIS) Group (at Ball Aerospace where the Instrument was being built). in 1996 I moved back to Baltimore and continued to work with the STIS group at GSFC until 1997.
