Hi, I'm Harish! I am a Principal Staff Scientist at STScI currently working with the Roman Space Telescope team and I was the former operations lead for the Hubble Wide-Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instrument.

I am currently working with the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope team. Before this, I spent 10 years (2014–2024) as the Operations Lead for the Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3), overseeing its scientific performance and collaborating closely with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

In my current role on the Roman Space Telescope team, I focus on scheduling and operations support, the exposure time calculator (ETC) for the Roman Wide Field Instrument (WFI), and the development of advanced simulation tools to optimize mission planning and science outcomes. Additionally, I lead the Multi-Mission Exposure Time Calculator Working Group, where I work to streamline exposure time predictions across multiple missions, ensuring astronomers have consistent and efficient tools for their observations.

My expertise spans near-infrared observation and instrumentation, supernovae, brown dwarfs, and high-energy spectroscopy of compact objects. Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about advancing the capabilities of space-based observatories while mentoring the next generation of scientists.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Astrophysics from UC Berkeley and a Master's degree in Astronomy from San Diego State University. Check out my C.V. and publications below for more details about my work.

The Space Telescope Science Institute operates the science program for the Hubble Space Telescope and conducts the science and missions operations for the James Webb Space Telescope and supports other astronomy programs and conduct world-class scientific research. The Space Telescope Science Institute is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) for NASA.
