The 1997 HST Calibration Workshop
with a New Generation of Instruments
Instructions for Authors for Conference Proceedings
The proceedings of The 1997 HST Calibration Workshop will be
published by the Space Telescope Science Institute. In order to
speed the publication process and to ensure a high-quality, professional
appearance, we ask that all authors provide their manuscripts
electronically using LaTeX markup. Authors who are unable to use
LaTeX may submit plain ASCII text files upon approval by the
proceedings editors
(email calpapers@stsci.edu).
Note that manuscripts must be submitted before the workshop.
The deadline is September 19, 1997.
Template Files
The formats that we will use are defined in a style file
based on the AASTeX macros and the PASP Conference Series
templates, developed by Chris Biemesderfer. We have made some
modifications to the basic templates to suit our own formatting
needs, so please use the files provided below to prepare papers
for this workshop.
When including graphics in the paper, please use PostScript files and
call them into the paper using psfig.
Submission Process
Once your paper is complete, you can submit it as follows:
- Check the file. Process the file with LaTeX to ensure
that it compiles without errors. Print the paper and verify that it
is complete and formatted as you intend.
- Send the file. There are two ways you can submit the
file to us:
- E-mail the file(s) to calpapers@stsci.edu (preferred)
- FTP the file(s) to
ftp.stsci.edu. Put files in
the directory outside-access/in.coming/cal97papers. Make sure that your
files are named according to the conventions
listed below.
- Bring a hardcopy to the meeting. Please print the paper
and bring a hardcopy of the paper to the workshop. A box will be
provided in which you can deposit the paper.
We will use the hardcopies if
we have processing problems, and to verify the completeness and
accuracy of our compiled book.
Base your file names on your own name.
- Use your entire last name followed by your first initial as
your root file name. For example, if you are Tim Jones, your paper
would be called:
jonest.tex
- If you have more than one paper being submitted, append a number
to the name. For example:
jonest2.tex
- Graphic files should be named following the same convention, and
should reflect the order in which the files are called in the paper.
For example:
jonest_3.eps, jonest2_2.ps
- File name extensions should reflect the file type: use
tex
for the LaTeX files, use eps or ps for graphics.
- When you e-mail your files, put the file name in the "Subject" line.
Length of Papers
The maximum length is 10 pages for invited papers and 6 pages for
posters, including graphics.
Poster Specifications
The space available for each poster is 64 inches in height by
24 inches in width.
Deadline
Papers are due by the time of the workshop (September 19, 1997). Please
send files before that date
No word processor
formats of any kind will be accepted: LaTeX markup or plain ASCII only,
please.
If You Have Problems...
If you have questions about how to prepare or submit your paper, please
contact the proceedings editors
(calpapers@stsci.edu).
