My research involves cool + hot binary star systems, in which an evolved late-type star has an upper main sequence companion not well studied from the ground. Between my own IUE observations and the IUE archives, I have determined UV spectral types and performed flux analysis for over 120 such systems. This work is being written up for publication and will lead to rather accurate luminosities for the cool evolved stars. For one such binary, HD 173764 having an 832-day period, Cycle 6 and 7 FGS measurements are underway to resolve the system at a combined brightness difference and angular separation beyond speckle capabilities.
