Together with my advisors Stefi Baum (STScI) and Tim de Zeeuw (Leiden Observatory) I am studying a complete sample of 21 nearby radio loud active E/S0 galaxies. Aims of this project include:
-detection massive black holes at nuclei
-comparison with normal elliptical galaxies
-systematic study for physics behind radio loud/quiet AGN dichotomy
Available data are VLA and VLBI radio data, ROSAT HRI X-ray data and WFPC2 broad- and narrowband images. Currently I am working with the latter data to analyze the dust and gas contents of these galaxies which seem to vary remarkably within the sample.
