Software Development
My professional focus is on creating robust, open-source software that enables cutting-edge astronomical research. At the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), I lead teams that build the data analysis tools used by astronomers around the world to work with data from the Hubble, Webb, and Roman Space Telescopes.
Projects
In the open-source community, I play a leadership role in several key Python packages:
- Astropy: I am a core developer of astropy, the core Python library for astronomy.
- Photutils: I am the lead developer of Photutils, an Astropy-coordinated package for astronomical source detection and photometry.
- Regions: I am also the lead developer of Regions, an Astropy-coordinated package for handling astronomical regions.
In addition to these leadership roles, I contribute to many STScI data analysis packages, libraries, and pipelines for the HST, JWST, and Roman missions. I am also a contributor to foundational community packages like NumPy and Matplotlib.
