Formation of galaxies and black holes in the early universe and their growth over cosmic time; large surveys with Hubble and other telescopes to discover new populations of distant galaxies and black holes; physical properties of active galactic nuclei using observations from radio, infrared, optical, ultraviolet through to X-ray energies.
